Semana 12!!! Fajardo

Courtney will be staying in Farjardo, she loves it there so another 6 weeks will be great!!





okay so PLOT TWIST!!



A couple of weeks ago hermana cordova and I were contacting people in this neighborhood and we walked to the end of a street.  We started to turn back when I got the prompting to keep going, and I though.. "keep going where?? the street ends??" so we turned around and walked to the end of the street, and sure enough... there was a small trail basically up the side of the mountain... so we went up! And we found a bunch of houses and found this little old lady named noelia! We have been teaching her a couple times a week and this past saturday was her birthday! So we went over to celebrate! (Ill add a photo)! So we left and went to go to some other lessons, and later that night we get a text from Leyda the lady I who has been in my past emails and she texted us "YOU GUYS WERE AT MY AUNTS BIRTHDAY?!?" and we were so confused... we were like "WHAT?!?! your aunt is Noelia?!" and sure enough her aunt is noelia! SMALL WORLD!! Noelias daughter put a photo on facebook with us in it and Leyda saw it! so thats crazy! Finding both leyda and noelia were miracles and they happened to be related!!



We also found this cute cat lady this week and she invited us in to her daughters birthday party! we said hi then left, and went back the other day to visit her! She welcomed us right in! she is from new york so she has the cutest new yorkian accent! So we talked for awhile and found out that she USE TO ATTEND the church of jesus christ of latter day saints!! (our church)! when her daughters were little she use to go! She was never baptised and stopped attending after awhile! But we have high hopes for her!



So last night we got transfer calls and I will be staying here in Fajarod (YAYAYA) with hermana daniesl! I have seen so many miracles this week and I cant wait to see what other miracles are in store!

Semana 11!!! Fajardo

WOW! I honestly cant believe ive been out for 11 weeks! Im in the routine of what we do daily around here! 

We are teaching some awesome people! Were teaching this lady that lives literally on the top of a mountain and she was visited by missionaries before the hurricane, but after the hurricane they lost contact, so it was a blessing we found her! She is progressing and were hoping she comes to church this week! 

we also met this super nice guy who use to be a priest! the spirit guided us there cause we were driving back from an appointment, and I turned down a road we had never been to, and then found a neighborhood and pulled up and parked and this guy was sitting on his porch and welcomed us in and told us alot of stories and he is really anxious to learn what we have to teach!

Also yesterday we got news that theyre announcing the PR temple site this week and that it should be done in a year and 3 months!!! CRAZY right!!?? Ive never heard of a temple being announced and done so soon!! But there sure are a bunch of miracles on this little island!!

Semana 10!!! Fajardo

HOLA!!! so another week down!!! 

So my new companion is Hermana Daniels and she's super awesome! We've had a good week!! I've introduced her to a lot of the members and am showing her around this cute little town called Fajardo and ceiba!! (our area!) We have had alot going on this week! We started teaching that girl we found last week Leyda!!! and I have alot of hope for her and her family! They just want to know everything and its so fun! were going over tomorrow and I cant wait! 

Also we got do to exchanges, where my comp goes to another area for a day and another Hermana comes and is comps with me for a day! And Hermana Cordova (my old comp) and I got to be together for a day! and a cute lady in our ward, eddy delgado who feeds us every sunday, threw her a birthday party! she turned 21 on saturday and it was so cute! Were also teaching her granddaughter Jamie who is 21 but has the mind of a 12 year old so shes super fun to teach and be with!! 

BIG NEWS! I gave a talk on sunday in sacrament meeting! (ALL IN SPANISH!!!) and it wasn't super aweful! It made sense and I can actually kinda speak spanish! crazy right?!? I was super nervous but I knew that the lord would help me and he sure did!!! 

I guess thats all I have for this week! till next week!

Semana 9!!! Fajardo

okay so WOW! where to begin! 

So the other day when we were in san juan for an activity with alot of missionaries we met this girl named Leyda, who lived in Ceiba in our area! We got her contact information and address and we told her we would stop by her house and visit! so a couple days later we went to the address that she gave us and it led us to this house that was up for sale.... so we thought she gave us a wrong address. So we went to leave, but then felt like we shouldnt.. so we went contacting for the next 3 hours on her street and right when we were walking back to our car, a car pulled up and stopped in the middle of the street a couple feet in front of us and we walked up to it and it was Leyda!! turns out she has actually been trying to sell her house so thats why it was for sale! so she brought us to her house and we talked for awhile and we started teaching her and she is so interested! I am stoked! she also has 3 kids so its going to be super fun to teach her! But if we hadnt stayed on her street contacting we wouldve never ran into her!!! 

We are also teaching a bunch of cool people that i am excited for! 

But the biggest news.... PUERTO RICO IS GETTING A TEMPLE! these people have been praying for a temple for the longest time!!! When president announced, 12 new temples we were all hopeful, but when he named 10 temples we all kindof lost hope.  So when he announced "San Juan Puerto Rico" we all jumped out of our seats rejoicing and with huge tears in our eyes! It was a moment I will remember forever! I cant wait to convert people and prepare them for the blessings of a TEMPLE!!!! Last month when president nelson came and talked to the people of puerto rico he said "better days are ahead for purto rico" and he wasnt lying!!! we are rejoicing over here and will be thanking our heavenly father everyday for everything he gives us and for all the blessings he pours out on us!! 

ALSO other big news our mission president called us last night and told us that there were some changes in the mission that involved us.... hahaha we were so scared!! so turns out theres emergency transfers and they are taking some sisters out of an area so im getting a new companion! I am going to miss Hermana Cordova but I know that this is all part of gods plan! and I am super excited for the future and to meet my new companion! 

God answers prayers!! PUERTO RICO IS GETTING A TEMPLE!!! ah till next week!!!

Semana 8!!! Fajardo

HOLA!!! ah wow its already october time flies when youre having fun!! Its been a great week in fajardo!!! haha spanish is hard but my companion helps me alot and I can see how far I've come already!! 

So our ward has about 40ish members that come to church which is super awesome!!! On sunday my comp and I taught the gospel principles class 2nd hour and relief society class 3rd hour about how we can build a temple spiritually here in Puerto Rico before we can have one physically! we just talked alot about the "building blocks!" like, tithing, missionary work, service, reading the scriptures and alot of other things! which was awesome! We teach alot in the ward and help it run! 

We have also been out meeting alot of new people here! it is so fun!! They still talk super duper fast but i can now understand the majority of what theyre saying so thats cool!! The other day were walking dow the street and there was this random horse chained up in the MIDDLE of the street!!! hahahah! crazy right?? then we kept walking down the road.. and there were 3 wild black.. pigs I think hahah in this lady's yard! she was hitting them with a broom to try to move them but they wouldnt budge! (I'll attatch pics dont worry)

and finally, today we had a zone activity in old san juan and ah ITS SO PRETTY!!! I got fried but it was worth it!! we played games and sports and it was such a good time!! I love it out here and I love being a missionary!!!
